Your responsibilities

You are responsible for the content of your messages. You are not permitted to transmit messages on the Services that (a) infringe on any third party's intellectual property or proprietary rights, or rights of publicity or privacy; (b) violate any law, statute, ordinance or regulation; (c) are defamatory, trade libelous, threatening, abusive, or obscene; (d) contain viruses or other similar harmful or deleterious programming routines; or (e) contain links to any sites that include any of that kind of content.

Spamming is prohibited

We do not tolerate our members being the victims of unsolicited email(spam). We are equally intolerant of Sify Mail members sending junk e-mail.Sending junk e-mail from a Sify account is cause for that account termination. We will determine in our sole discretion whether any of the messages you send are spam. For your information, spamming generally includes sending any form of email that can be interpreted as junk email or bulk email that the recipient has not specifically requested from you. We reserve the right to take legal and technical remedies to prevent you from sending spam. If you send any spam we may penalize you by terminating your the mailbox and through any other remedies we may have available to us.

About your mail box

Information collection and Use

When you register with Sify ,we ask for your name,email address,birthdate,gender,zipcode,occupation,industry and personal interests. Once you register with Sify and sign to our services ,you are not anonymous to us. Sify uses this information to customize advertising and the content you see,to fulfill your requests for certain products and services ,and to contact you about new products according to your interest.

Information Sharing and disclosure

Sify will send personally identifiable information about you to other companies or people when we need to share your information to provide the services you have requested.

Your ability to edit and Delete your account information and preferences

Sify gives you the ability to edit your Sify Account Information and preferences at any time. Incase you would like to delete your account,you could do so by writing to the Webmaster@sify.com. In such case,you will have to register again to become a member.

Email storage

Your mailbox will include a maximum of hundred (100) megabytes of free email storage. We may not process any email message that is larger than ten (10) megabyte, at our sole discretion. We suggest that you regularly purge your mailbox size or else we shall be compelled to delete your messages to maintain your mail box size.

Email retention.

You must remember to check your mailbox for messages frequently. All email that you receive in your mailbox that you do not open for more than sixty (60) days will be deleted and you will not be able to recover it.

Mail box activity.

Please remember to login to Sify Services frequently. If you fail to do so for a period of more than one hundred and eighty (180) days, we will be forced to deactivate your mailbox. All your mails along with the folders you create will be deleted. And subsequently, all your incoming mails would be bounced back to the sender. You can reactivate your inactive account by signing in with your username and password. This will open your account afresh. If you need to be reminded of your mailbox expiry, do provide us with an alternate e-mail ID that you may have. After 180 days of your Sify mailbox inactivity, we will send you a warning mailer to this ID as a prompt.

Below are our recommendations for staying safe and secure when you are online.

# Change your password often.

# Don.t share your password.

# Never open attachments from unknown sources, they may contain viruses.

# Always remember to sign out when you are done especially if using a public terminus.

# Don.t reply to unsolicited mail or other harassing or offensive mail.To help control spam use our filter facility.

# At Sifymail we take utmost care to make sure no unsolicited commercial e-mails and other spam reach your Inbox. We do not sell, lease or rent our member lists to third parties. New technologies to control the incidence of spam and possibly eliminate it is something we constantly work on. However, we urge you to take some precautions of your own - like being careful about sharing your E-mail address on the web and using features like Filters and SpamBuster on sifymail.
